Dearest girl I know; –
I’m writing tonight although I don’t know what your new address is. Am hoping for a letter in the morning telling me where my little girl is now located.
Your special came this morning and I was mighty glad to hear from you, as always.
I’m glad my letters came in time to stop the tears. I don’t want you to cry, dear, unless you are happy. Happy tears are not so bad. If I were only there I wouldn’t let you cry.
Well, we are all set for the ring. About twenty different styles of mountings came yesterday and I chose one I thought you would like. The jeweler sent the stone and ring away to have it mounted and it will be back in time for me to bring up next Saturday.
So you have a new dress for the occasion. I’m sure your dress will be very pretty and that you will look sweet and beautiful (as you always do) for this great moment in our young lives. I expect we will both feel “thrilly” about that time. It’s a feeling hard to describe so lets don’t try. I like it, don’t you?
Hope you experienced no trouble in moving to your new home and that you will be happy and contented. Also that you will have a little beddy all your own.
Our Legion show closed last evening. We will settle up tomorrow evening and then will know how much money we made. I’m glad it is all over for they bothered me nearly to death.
We are very, very busy in the shop and will start on a big job on the linotype tomorrow morning.
I am going to work hard and long this week and that will make Saturday come sooner.
Then I’ll fly away to my darling Marie. Am very anxious to see you again and to tell you how much I love you. But I guess you know I do.
Before I mail this I’ll write some more.
I’m going to leave you now, so I’ll say good-night with a big hug and kiss and tell you I care heaps and heaps, big enough heaps to cover all the Pyramids of Egypt.
Bill
Sunday evening
Dear:-
Your telegram came just a little while ago so I’ll only say a word or two and mail this.
I love you very much this morning and will write again this evening, so hoping you are well and happy and not so very bad. I’m still your boy and yours only.
Monday Morning.
Bill
The dates associated with most of these letters came from the post mark on the envelope the letters were placed in when the museum received them as a donation. Some of the letters may seem out of place, or out of order because of this. As we have no clear knowledge of exactly when all the letters were written, we have kept them in order of the dates on the envelopes.
