BECOME A “FRIEND OF THE FOUNDERS” IN HONOR OF 50 YEARS!

In 1970, five Findlay businessmen—Jim Brucklacher, Harold Corbin, Jack Harrington, Ed Heminger, and R. Joseph “Joe” Opperman—established the Hancock Historical Museum Association. Fifty years later, we have been celebrating the Founders throughout 2020 for their vision.

What began as a grassroots initiative and a mutual interest in local history among friends, has become one of the most comprehensive cultural/heritage organizations in the region—including nine buildings and more than 25,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space.

While the global pandemic of 2020 has limited much of the museum’s programming, the year’s challenges have also underscored the value of the Founders’ commitment. Their early foresight to develop and oversee an endowment, has assisted the Museum Association in weathering past rainy days, and will continue to serve as a lifeblood to the organization in perpetuity. By encouraging their families, friends, and business acquaintances to become involved from the beginning, the Founders created a network of supportive members that has grown exponentially, and continues to nourish the privately-funded museum.

In this year of anniversary celebrations and unforeseen trials, we are thankful for the efforts of the Founders, and for donors like you, for growing and sustaining this community resource.

As you plan your end-of-year giving, we ask you to consider making a special gift to the Hancock Historical Museum Association in honor of our 50th Anniversary! By becoming a Friend of the Founders and making a $50 minimum contribution by December 31st, you will receive a commemorative anniversary ornament, handmade by local artisan, Jason Wagner, of Timber Fork Studio. Membership dues are not considered a part of this promotion. Heritage Society members will automatically receive a complimentary ornament.

Your contributions are vital to continuing programming and operations during this extended period of earned revenue loss. Our local arts and heritage organizations need your ongoing help! We are grateful for your continued support of the museum, and wish you and yours a very happy and healthy Holiday Season!
