In October 2014, the Hancock Historical Museum’s Historic Barn Tour was awarded the Ohio State Historic Preservation Office’s Public Education & Awareness Award for preservation excellence. Ohio History Connection CEO, Burt Logan, has recognized the Historic Barn Tour as a “model program for the state.” Now on a biennial schedule, we are proud to present the 2017 Historic Barn Tour!
This self-guided tour showcases six century-old barns in southern Hancock County around the communities of Jenera and Arlington. This family friendly event includes activities at each stop celebrating our heritage, including a quilt show, antique machinery demonstrations, timber-framing demonstrations, local food vendors, and live music with the Dulcimer Gatherin’ and the classic country band, East of Cheyenne. New vendors and activities this year include the Dixie Girl Food Truck, hewing and framing demonstrations with JCM Timberworks, and much more! Learn about the history of these unique structures while enjoying the sights, tastes, and sounds of our county’s legacy.
Pre-sale tickets are available for $10 at the Museum and these sponsor locations in Hancock County: Reineke Ford, Legacy Farmers Cooperative, Citizen’s National Bank in Findlay and Bluffton, Ag Credit in Findlay, Findlay Implement, Findlay-Hancock County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Redline Equipment in Ottawa. The tour is also generously sponsored by the Hancock County Farm Bureau and Advanced Drainage Systems. You can also purchase tickets online below. Tickets will also be available at any of the barns on the day of the tour for $10 for members, $15 nonmembers. Children 16 and under are free.
Join us for our NEW event this year, Breakfast in the Barn, to kick off our 2017 Historic Barn Tour! Enjoy a home cooked breakfast and music on the farm from 7-10 am September 16th. Tickets sold separately.
